Welcome to
ADS Plus
Adult Day Services (ADS) provide a critical service to clients, many of whom are living with cognitive impairment or dementia. Although ADS offer family caregivers of your clients with respite or time for themselves, they also need additional support to provide care at home. As the disease progresses, caregivers are largely on their own, without access to dementia education or helpful strategies and support to manage dementia-related symptoms at home.
The Adult Day Services Plus program (known as ADS Plus) is an exciting evidence-based program designed to help adult day staff members support the family caregivers of their clients who are living with dementia.

Get online training in ADS Plus
Online training in ADS Plus is now available from Plans4Care, Inc. Ten self-paced multi-media modules, which include ungraded self-study questions, take about eight hours to complete.
Adult day service staff can join a virtual community and have online access to course leaders for personalized coaching and implementation support.
ADS Plus background and evidence
ADS Plus was developed by Dr. Laura N. Gitlin in collaboration with adult day services administrators. It augments existing adult day services and addresses caregivers’ unmet needs and care challenges with a caregiver-centric and strength-based approach.

Peer reviewed studies, including a multi-site study funded by the National Institute on Aging, show that ADS Plus generates important benefits for people living with dementia and their caregivers, as well as for ADS staff and programs.

That makes a huge difference. I think it’s a tremendous paradigm shift.”
